A modern website has to earn its place
A business website should make the company easier to understand, easier to trust and easier to contact. Looking current is not enough.

Visitors do not owe you their attention
A homepage has a few seconds to answer basic questions. What does this company do? Is it for someone like me? Is there any reason to believe the claims? A dramatic animation cannot make up for vague answers.
Use the words customers use. Show real products, work or people where you can. If the company is new and the evidence is still growing, say so honestly rather than filling the page with anonymous percentages.
Accessibility is part of making the site work
Readable contrast, keyboard access, sensible headings and properly labelled forms are not finishing touches. They affect whether people can use the site at all, and they are much easier to get right while the interface is being built.
- Start with semantic HTML
- Make keyboard focus easy to see
- Test larger text and narrow screens
- Avoid motion people cannot switch off
- Write links that still make sense out of context
Measure the actions that matter
A rise in page views feels encouraging, but it does not tell you whether the website is helping the business. A useful measurement plan follows the decisions you want visitors to make: start a trial, send a relevant enquiry, read enough to understand the offer or return to compare options.
Decide those actions before adding analytics. You will collect less noise, ask for less data and have a better chance of learning something useful.
